Projects

Some of the completed and ongoing Tomakin Community Association (TCA) projects are:

Stage 2 of the mosaics ‘Art on the Block’ has been installed on the amenities block near the main entrance to Tomakin Beach in December 2019. The group have done a wonderful job and the mosaics look fantastic!

Development of a ‘Plan for an Emergency’ document.

PLAN FOR AN EMERGENCY V3

Replace faded information sign at Melville Point.

Upgrades and new facilities in Jack Buckley Memorial Park.

Provide shelters over picnic settings located around Tomakin.

Upgrades to the amenities block and surrounding areas at the main entrance to Tomakin Beach.

Coastal Zone Management Plan for the Tomaga River Estuary – Council has begun erosion protection work on the foreshore and banks of the Tomaga River. TCA is working with Council to seek funding and ensure recommendations of the plan are actioned.

Extension of the pathway between Tomakin and Tomakin IGA. We are continuing our efforts to have this pathway completed.

Possible basic facilities at Barlings Beach at the main entrance/carpark i.e. shower/tap facility.

Liaising with Council on local road safety issues.

Production of Tomakin calendars where the local community are involved by submitting their photos of Tomakin.

Encouraging the Tomakin community to participate in Halloween activities. Tomakin is now a ‘go to’ area for the region for Halloween.

Bunnings BBQs. We run a BBQ at Bunnings every three months, as a fundraiser for our projects and volunteers to help are most welcome.

Tomakin Coastcare – working to improve the environment around Tomakin. Contact the Eurobodalla Shire Council if you are interested in joining this group.

Replacement of the ramp/stairs leading to Tomakin Cove. TCA is working with Council to upgrade and improve this well used entrance.

Carols by Candlelight – following the on-going success of Carols, TCA will be supporting the Tomakin Sports and Social Club in future Carols by Candlelight evenings

Christmas lollies – with support from the Tomakin Sports and Social Club, Santa will give lollies to the children in Tomakin on Christmas mornings. Santa will be driven around the streets of Tomakin by the Broulee Rural Fire Service.
